Dragons’ Den fans’ can’t stop the itching ‘as entrepreneur says he plucked lice from his family’s heads
DRAGONS ‘Den fans were unable to “stop the itching” as an entrepreneur says he picked up lice in his family’s heads.
BBC One viewers scratched their heads after Thursday’s episode after hopeful Eileen Hutchinson shared her business plan.
The mom pitched her idea to millionaires Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, Tej Lalvani and Sara Davies.
Eileen had turned an embarrassing problem into a business opportunity with her head lice treatment and the NitNot Clinic.
Before entering the den, she revealed, “We had a problem in the family that many families have across the country and I realized the products weren’t working well enough – so I developed my own. . “
The Dragons squirmed when they spotted Eileen’s promotional booth with bottles of her product and photos of lice.
Deborah grimaced, “Is that a picture of lice or nit.”
Sarah laughed: “It’s a fine comb.”
Eileen admitted that she had found a “big loophole in a massive market” and that she was hoping to make a deal with Tej.
Eileen explained that her product line is safe, free from toxic and flammable chemicals, and is genuinely effective.
She told the Dragons that her company is selling an eco-friendly and ethical solution that promises to kill all head lice and eggs.
She was looking for an investment of £ 40,000 in exchange for a 20% share, with the prospect of expanding her clinics nationwide.
Eileen told the entrepreneurs that she has become increasingly aware of the stress and frustrations head lice can bring to an already busy family.
She said: “After my own epic, costly and time-consuming failures, I focused on finding an effective solution.”
BBC One viewers felt uncomfortable with Eileen’s speech, with one writing: “Thank you, I have now started scratching your head.”
Another shared, “Damn, I want to itch now!”
A third person added: “Everyone watching #DragonsDen has just scratched their heads.”
As a fourth social worker wrote, “Does anyone else suddenly itch?”
