Five homemade oils for healthy hair

Below, she shares five homemade hair oils that are “completely herbal but extremely potent”:

1. Curry leaves and coconut hair oil: This magic oil strengthens your hair, adds elasticity and restores the melanin content of your follicles. The vitamin B content helps to improve the health and shine of your hair and also gives it a pleasant scent.


– Take 3 tablespoons of cold pressed coconut oil and add them to a handful of curry leaves in a saucepan.

– Heat the mixture until it turns a black residue and allow it to cool.

– Pour this oil into a dark bottle and store it in a cool place. Heat it up a bit each time you want to use it.

2. Amla hair oil (gooseberry): This homemade hair oil can be used by both men and women suffering from damaged hair, premature graying and hair loss. It helps stimulate hair growth, cools the scalp and makes your hair shinier and darker.


– Cut 2 amla fruits into 4 slices each and place them in the shade to dry them. Leave to dry for at least 1 hour.

– Add 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and 4 tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil to the dried amla pieces.

– Heat the mixture over low heat until it begins to bubble. Let cool in the pan itself.

– Pour this mixture into a dark bottle and store it out of direct sunlight in a cool place for 1 week before using.

3. Hibiscus hair oil: Hibiscus is loaded with vitamins A, C, and other nitrifying minerals that promote hair growth, improve volume, and make your hair silky and shiny.


– Take ½ cup of hibiscus leaves and 2 hibiscus flowers. Wash them in cold water and dry them in the sun or in the oven.

– In a saucepan, add ¼ cup of organic coconut oil and ¼ cup of almond oil. Start heating the mixture by adding the dried hibiscus petals and leaves.

– Heat 5 minutes on low heat and let the mixture cool.

– Filter the cooled oil and pour it into a dark bottle to keep it in a cool place for 1 week. Warm the oil a bit each time you use it.

4. Onion hair oil: The high sulfur content in onions helps treat a host of hair problems, including baldness. It is also an effective antibacterial and helps fight scalp infections. In addition, the vitamin and mineral content strengthens the hair roots, giving you denser and stronger hair.


– Finely chop a small onion and add 6 tablespoons of coconut oil and 2 cloves of garlic in a saucepan.

– Heat the mixture until it starts to bubble, then let it cool.

– Add 3-4 drops of lavender / rosemary essential oil and store the mixture in the refrigerator for 10 days before you start using it.

5. Aloe vera hair oil: Aloe vera has a plethora of benefits including treating hair loss, dandruff, and dry scalp. It also adds strength and nourishment to your hair and restores the pH balance of your scalp and hair.


– Take a whole aloe vera leaf and cut it in half. Remove all the gel from these leaves.

– Take ½ cup of this gel and mix it with ½ cup of coconut oil (the mixture should be 50-50).

– Heat the mixture over low heat for ~ 5-7 minutes and allow it to cool completely.

– Add to this cooled mixture five drops of rosemary essential oil

– Store this oil in a cool, dark bottle for 2 weeks before you start using it.

“The key to getting the results you want is consistent use of these natural oils that benefit you in the long run,” said Shahnaz Husain.

“Warm up the oil before a massage, especially in winter. During the massage, specific parts of the body may be given the desired attention, depending on specific issues.
