A hair clinic that could perm a bald man is “finally” receiving some national recognition – which its director says is due to the vision of his late father Hackney.

If you haven’t heard of Stepney Green’s Hair Development UK, you’ve probably seen their hairpieces and head extensions of famous faces on screen and on stage.

Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spitting Image and Strictly Come Dancing are just a few of the productions they’ve worked on.

But after 60 years in business, the company says it remains just as dedicated to providing extensions, cutting-edge laser hair regrowth therapy, and tailor-made hairpieces to everyday customers.

Although it has helped hundreds of clients over the years, Hair Development UK has been relatively under the radar. But after being invited by Lord Eric Pickles to be part of the prestigious Parliamentary Review, their name should be seen by half a million.

Creative director Janis Levy, herself a former actress who walked through the sunflower fields in the famous 1985 Flake commercial, said the credit goes to her father and company founder Stanley Levy – who grew up in Hackney and passed away in 2019.

“My father was the backbone of the industry,” she said, “It’s only since he passed away that we have been recognized.

“He worked so hard his whole life and was so dedicated and dedicated. He was extremely respected and stylists came to him.

The company won rave reviews among men, said Ms Levy, some of whom felt depressed or even suicidal in the face of baldness. The center can offer laser therapy, which gives positive results in 80% of participants, as well as invisible hairpieces.

Ms Levy now operates the business alongside managing director Mark Burns, her cousin. They have 12 full-time employees and representatives around the world, but they don’t want to leave London anytime soon.

Regarding the magazine’s recognition, Ms. Levy added, “I didn’t know. They approached us and wanted us to be part of it. It came out a few weeks ago and it really took off. We have been invited to a gala now. None of this is ever what we were looking for, it just came to us.
