Kalonji are produced by Nigella sativa, a flower native to Eastern Europe, Southwest Asia and the Middle East.
Black seed oil is the fixed oil extracted by pressure from the seeds of Nigella sativa, an annual flowering plant found in many parts of India.
The small, bitter-tasting seeds act as food for your hair to cure baldness and solve problems such as hair loss or premature fall, graying, and dandruff. Kalonji seeds or onion seeds, as they are sometimes called, make up 38% of the oil which is responsible for its aromatic flavor.
These amazing little seeds have been used for thousands of years in remedies for allergies, asthma, diabetes, headaches, weight loss, arthritis, and intestinal worms.
The unique looking seeds have a distinctive flavor, also used in cooking to add flavor to breads, curries and pickles. They are used as flavoring agents when baking, using them in various forms of bread like naan, paratha, chapatti, etc.
In Bengal, kalonji seeds are used to flavor dals, vegetables and even fish. In fact, it is known to have healing properties because it helps control cholesterol and also regulates high blood sugar. What is even more beneficial is that it encourages weight loss.
There are many other benefits of kalonji seed oil as well, including beauty benefits. For example, it is said to control hair loss, restore damaged hair to health, and even help promote hair growth. In fact, kalonji oil has been used to apply to the scalp or skin to treat problems like psoriasis and also helps fight dandruff. The ability to restore scalp health is considered to be one of its greatest benefits. First of all, the oil has antibacterial, antifungal and also anti-inflammatory properties. That is why it also helps in fighting dandruff and also rashes on the skin or scalp. Black seed oil can be diluted and applied to the scalp to soothe and heal infections and rashes. It contains compounds that help fight hair loss. It also nourishes the hair follicles and this helps promote hair growth. As we all know, hair grows from a hair follicle. Restoring the health of the hair follicle promotes hair growth. Since kalonji oil is a natural plant product, it is a safe way to help hair growth and has no harmful effects. Black seed oil contains omega-3 and 6 which promote blood circulation, especially in the head. This is known to promote rapid hair growth within weeks.
Regular use of kalonji oil not only helps prevent premature graying, but also reverses graying of hair in a number of cases. Boil some black cumin seeds until they have a bland flavor. When the mixture is cold, drain it. Add a vinegar solution to the cumin water and rinse your hair with the solution. Wash off with shampoo after hours or the next day. An important advantage is that the oil from the kalonji seeds can be mixed with other ingredients and applied to the skin or scalp. For example, you can mix it with a pressed oil, like coconut oil, sesame seed oil, or olive oil.

Start massaging the oil mixture into your scalp. Concentrate on the areas that shed the most hair. Leave the oil on for about 30 minutes to an hour, then wash it off with your regular shampoo. You can use this mixture 3 times a week
You can also mix it with aloe vera gel, or even honey and apply it directly to the scalp. Besides using the oil, you can also grind the seeds into a powder. Mix a teaspoon of powder with a little oil or milk and apply to the scalp. Leave on for 15 minutes then lightly massage the scalp with your fingertips. The powdered seeds act as a scrub and help cleanse the scalp pores. They also help remove sticky dandruff, when the flakes adhere to the scalp. If there is dandruff, you can also mix kalonji seed powder with apple cider vinegar and apply to scalp. This helps to restore the normal acid-alkaline balance of the scalp and thus restores health to the hair. Or mix a teaspoon of kalonji seed powder with aloe vera gel and apply to the scalp. Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes then rinse. It really helps to soothe and hydrate the scalp.
Mix half a cup of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of black seed oil to make a paste. Massage the mixture into your scalp using your fingers in a circular motion. Cover your hair with a hot towel to improve the effectiveness of the hair mask, leave the mixture on for 30 minutes and rinse with a sulfate-free shampoo.
Squeeze lemon juice from one lemon and massage it into your scalp. Leave on for 15 minutes then wash your hair with your usual shampoo. Air dry your hair and then rub black seed oil on your scalp for about 10 minutes. Go to bed with the oil in your head and wash it off the next morning with shampoo. You can use it twice a week
You can avoid this remedy if you have sensitive skin because lemon juice can cause redness and irritation. This remedy is best suited for people with oily hair who have suffered a lot from hair loss.
Please don’t keep the lemon juice in your hair for more than 15 minutes as it dries it out.
We don’t have to look far, because nature has provided us with what we need to flavor our food, cure ailments, and restore both health and beauty.
