Oily hair in summer
Many of us have more oily hair than usual during the summer months, because it’s not just the sebum that you have to deal with, it’s also the sweat and grime.
There is nothing to worry about, for many people, oily hair will not cause any problem.
However, an abnormally oily scalp can be a concern. The more we sweat, the more oily our hair becomes. The sweat mixes with sebum, an oily substance produced by the scalp during summers, and then the oil is further pushed towards the hair shaft by the sweat of our body.
An oily scalp is a breeding ground for dandruff. Dandruff can only occur with oil because the pores get clogged with hardened oil. It can also trigger a hair loss problem. Excessive oiliness of the scalp can cause excessive itching and redness.
If your hair is oily, you may need to wash it every third day, or even more frequently in the summer. Since the summer heat increases the production of sebum on your scalp, it is important to wash your hair frequently. Tea tree oil, green tea extracts, lemon and menthol hair products can be beneficial on the hottest days. Avoid oil applications if the hair is oily. If you typically oil your hair once a week, reduce it to once every two weeks. This is the easiest way to get rid of that oily hair and trust me it works
Avoid hot showers during summers as these can strip the natural oils from your hair and may not completely rinse out the shampoo with the conditioner. Showering cold water helps reduce oil production. So use cold water to rinse off the shampoo. Avoid using hair products with silicones. They can harm the health of your hair in the long run by clogging the pores that make your hair greasy. There are shampoos designed to deal with fat or dandruff. Take a teaspoon of shampoo for long hair and half a teaspoon for short hair. Dilute it with a little water then apply. A single application of shampoo may be sufficient. Rinse your hair well with water after shampooing to get rid of all soap residue. If you plan to use a dry shampoo, use it only on the crown and comb it through the hair. Dry shampoo only absorbs oil and has no role in cleaning hair and scalp, which are essential for healthy hair. Spray dry shampoo on your oily roots to prevent the oil from spreading through your hair. It’s also a good idea to bring a travel bottle with you wherever you go. . You can also try using talcum powder on your scalp if you don’t have dry shampoo. If your hair is light, baby powder will also do the trick. Avoid chemical treatments like hair botox, keratin, coloring or spa during this season.

Coconut milk is the healthiest natural ingredient for healthy hair. Mix freshly extracted coconut milk with a squeezed lemon and 4-5 drops of lavender essential oils. Leave on for 4 to 5 hours then rinse.
Mix well 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel and a cup of shampoo and use it as a shampoo. Do this twice a week and you will see the changes in the texture and oiliness of your hair.
To get rid of bad odors, add the juice of one lemon and half a cup of rose water to one cup of water and use it as the last rinse after shampooing.
A few drops of cologne can also be added to a cup of water and used as a final rinse. It also has a cooling effect.
In case of sticky dandruff, where the flakes adhere to the scalp, hot oil therapy is very helpful. Heat the olive oil. Apply the oil to the scalp with cotton wool, rubbing gently to dislodge the flakes. Then dip a towel in hot water, wring out the water, and wrap the hot towel around the head, like a turban. Keep it on for 5 minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap 3 or 4 times. This helps the hair and scalp to absorb the oil better. Repeat it three or four times. Leave the oil on overnight. The next morning, apply the juice of a lemon on the scalp and wash your hair after 15 minutes.
Avoid styling products like gels in wet weather, especially if the hair is oily. Rinsing the hair is more appropriate during the summer. It provides a conditioning treatment to the hair, giving it body and bounce, without making the hair greasy. Prepare a rinse at home, using natural ingredients. This can be used after washing the hair, as a final rinse.
Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water and use it as a final rinse. Or add the juice of one lemon to a cup of water and use it as a final rinse. It helps reduce fat and add shine to the hair.
Marigold (Gainda flowers): Add a handful of fresh or dried marigold flowers to two cups of hot water. Let sit for an hour. Filter the water and cool it. Use it as a hair rinse.
Rinse with tea water and lemon. Take the used tea leaves and boil them again in water. You should have about 6 cups of water. The amount of water depends on the length of the hair. Filter and cool the water. Add the juice of one lemon to the tea and use it as the last rinse after shampooing. The tea contains tannin which gives shine to the hair and makes it silky. Lemon reduces the creaminess.
